So much detail!

Love it man! I find it amazing how much detail it has. The style is consequent and the texture of the tree is downright delicious!
I'm not entirely sure what the thing left on the screen is though, seems a bit out of place.

UltraPitchFork responds:

things on the left are suppose to be some kind of swarming bats or something

minimalistic sort of

I think it looks good being nice minimalistic and all, but I think all the detail on the brick wall ruins the effect. It'd look better with a more simplified texture, maybe only hinting to the entire texture.

Pasturn responds:

Yeah, it does kind of take away from the picture. I thought about doing something like that, but hell, it was 8 something in the morning. Thanks for the critique, though, I can see where you're coming from with that.

What the guy below said

I just realized I commented on the texture already but oh well :x

But yeah, what the guy below said, specifically at the face. I think a bit more subtle effect would do.
Also, it could use a higher resolution as it's a bit blurry some places
Oh and he has a bit large facial features judging by the size of his head :P

Ooh

It looks really cool!
I can't really tell the expression of him though ... I suppose the shading could've been even smoother, I'm not sure how it contrast to the finished 3D render, but I imagine it'd be possible to tell rendered shading and drawn texture apart. (Also comic sans)

Otherwise it looks real neat!

well

It's a bit, simple, which is a good thing for a platformer, but maybe not so much for the art portal.

I think the first thing I noticed is that there are no facial features. Now this is probably intentional, and not a problem if the other characters in the game are unique and easy to tell apart, but usually facial features reveals a lot for the gamer about the character.
Now, if you want a mystical sort of character, then ignore all this - it looks good!

Furthermore, the pose is very stiff and does not tell much about the character, so you might want to change that. Oh, and unless his tummy and nose weights a ton, the pose is unbalanced. He's leaning backward so much he'd fall. Also, some detail for his hands would do.

Well, that's pretty much what I can comment on this thing, I really liked it though, keep in mind I'm just being picky!

Cope2K responds:

I totally get the no facial features thing. It will be fixed once I texture it. The post is just like that for now since I haven't rigged it yet, It will be fixed too. Thanks for the crit it's a ton of help. Glad you like it!

PS. Love it when people are picky :D

Very good!

A very well executed drawing! Colour is balanced and the overall anatomy is pretty much spot on.

I do, however notice the lack of a decent background. something simple would do, like a grey wall, or a horizon stripe perhaps?
Also, her left leg is too long, and it slightly disturbs the otherwise balanced pose.

Oh, and from the looks of it, she's built up of leaf thin skin? I don't know if this is on purpose and it's explained in some story, but you'd think she would be made up from something? Be it organs, wax, pure evil or recycled paper.

But yeah, this is so good, I'm just being picky! Good job!

Unfinished

You said it yourself, but still I like where you're going. I'd fix up her left hand though, because as it is right now, it's pretty hard to tell the general shape of the arm. Oh and perhaps hint the right hand too, or else it looks like this pulchritude had an amputation.
Happy friday flood!

Love it

Simply love it.
Except a few things that is. The ripple thing is too flat and the water is for some reason curving up?
Oh, and the background texture is almost unnoticeable. It's so slight that it gives more of an annoyance rather than an effect, so turn the contrast up a tad there.
Either way it's a great concept, and I love how you've used details in some places and simplified elsewhere!
Happy friday flood!

Simply great!

It's simplified and simply great!
I love the duotone water surface and bubbles.
I think the water is slightly too lucid though. I think there should be a slight disturbance where the bird is underwater as well as a slight color change.
Anywho, it's a great little thing you've got here. I just love the texture on the birds head.
Happy friday frontpage flood!

J-qb responds:

Thanks. I didnt want to add too much to it, so thats why I left the water plain.

Aweso!

Very nice and random - random in a good way!
I don't get the shadow the glass throws though, It looks like it's a wall right behind the glass, but I can't really find that to make sense either.
Other than that, I suppose the octopus' tentacles could've been redder underwater.

Oh and recheck the perspective on the ice cube.
I still love the looks of the overall piece though!
Happy friday flood!

Fifty-50 responds:

Thank you man. I'm also regretting how I colored the glass. Thank you.
