So instead of doing art in your spare time, you joined the army, which resulted in you making art *for* the army.
Did you never consider the fact that you could've been a graphic designer outside of the army?
Ultimately I want to be a civilian graphic designer, but I don't think I meet the requirements for a proper job. in that regard, the army is a great thing giving me a head start in terms of work experience.
